IRIG B Generator
IRIG is a serial standard for time code generation, distribution and reading. It is essentially used for distribution of absolute time information. The reference input can be from a GPS receiver, another IRIG-B Generator, time on serial interfaces like
RS232/422/485 or locally entered. Depending on the resolutions required, IRIG-A,B,D,E and G options can be chosen. Also depending on distance for distribution, a DC code or an Amplitude Modulated AC code can be chosen.
Applications
- Ranging systems
- Power plants
- Satellite launch control systems
- Synchronization to an accuracy of a few tens of microseconds
- Can be modified to transmit control status info in addition to time
- Can be used as a DC or AC code generator based on receiving systems
